The woman involved in an auto-pedestrian accident Tuesday morning has been identified by Lufkin Police Department.
Ruby Adams, 57, of Lufkin, was critically injured when she crossed Timberland Drive into the path of a southbound Chevy Camaro in front of Sun N Pines Motel at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, a press release from Lufkin Police Department Media Specialist Jessica Pebsworth stated. A front desk clerk of the motel told LPD she believed the woman had been visiting a man in one of the rooms. Authorities took Adams to a local hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
LPD withheld Adams' name as they attempted to contact her family. Thursday afternoon, LPD asked for the public's assistance in locating Adams' family after two days of searching for a contact. Two hours later, Pebsworth announced that the department had spoken with Adams' family members and offered thanks for those who helped to get the word out.
“These situations are always so sad and we hate for family – estranged or not – to find out about the passing of a loved one in this manner,” Pebsworth said. “Unfortunately, this is a last resort to reunite her with loved ones.”
