HUNTINGTON — One person was declared dead at the scene of an accident on FM 1669 Wednesday evening.
According to scanner traffic, the accident occurred between an 18-wheeler and a Chevrolet Silverado on FM 1669 between Huntington and state Highway 103 east about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday. Angelina County Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Pat Grimes Grubbs confirmed one person who was in the Chevrolet was dead on the scene. At this time, it is unknown if there are any other injuries in this accident.
The Texas Department of Public Safety, Angelina County Sheriff’s Office and Lufkin Fire Department responded to the scene. Traffic remained open in one lane as authorities investigated the scene, and only stopped in both lanes as wreckers and Carroway Funeral Home representatives worked to move the vehicle and body.
The identity of the deceased and 18-wheeler driver are currently unreleased. The Lufkin Daily News has made a request with DPS for a release on the accident. More information will be released as it becomes available.
