Shots fired

Lufkin Police have set up crime scene tape and investigate the location of a reported shooting at Grace Dunne Richardson Park.

Lufkin Police are investigating what appears to have been a shooting incident at Grace Dunne Richardson Park that left two men injured.

The report of shots fired came in at 6:52 a.m., a press release from LPD Public Relations Specialist Jessica Pebsworth states. Officers arrived on the scene to find one man had been shot in the leg and another with a laceration to his head.

A third man involved in the incident has been taken to the police station for questioning while both injured men have been taken to separate local hospitals. Their injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The release states the men appear to be acquaintances and the incident may have been involved in drug activity at the time of the disturbance. It remains under investigation at this time.
