Police arrested a Lufkin man Saturday night at CVS Pharmacy on Frank Avenue after responding to a report of a man following two women inside, yelling and “acting like he was on something,” according to a Lufkin Police report.

When the officers arrived, Lawrence Edward Young, 33, was standing outside with an odor emanating from him that was consistent with PCP use, the report stated. Additionally, Young had “an aggressive look on his face and was sweating profusely,” the report stated.

As officers tried to take Young into custody, he allegedly balled his hands into a fist and became uncooperative, according to the report. After a struggle that lasted several minutes, police placed Young in handcuffs and took him to jail.

An officer received several scratches to his right arm during the struggle, the report stated.

Young was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, public intoxication and warrants for violating a promise to appear and traffic violations, according to county records.

Angelina County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Hassler Nicole Brooke, 32, of Lufkin, on an aggravated assault charge Sunday night in the 400 block of Woody Wallace Road after receiving a report that she was angry and chasing her brother with a kitchen knife, according to a sheriff’s office report. No injuries were reported.

Lufkin police arrested two men Sunday morning after receiving unrelated reports of the men passed out in vehicles at local businesses, according to a Lufkin police report.

Zavian Lashod Daniels, 31, of Lufkin, was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and warrants for traffic violations after officers responded to a report that Daniels was asleep in his vehicle with the car door open in the Bigs parking lot on North Raguet Street, the report stated. When officers arrived, they observed Daniels still sleeping with a pistol next to him on the seat. After waking him, officers noticed he smelled of alcohol, the report stated.

Bobby Lee Ramos, 25, of Lufkin, was arrested on a public intoxication charge after he reportedly passed out behind the wheel in the Whataburger drive-thru on North Timberland Drive, according to the report. Upon arrival, officers observed Ramos sleeping in his vehicle with a beer between his legs.

After waking Ramos, officers asked him for his ID and he initially handed them a $20 bill, the report stated. After an officer pointed out that he had handed them a $20 bill, Ramos gave them his ID. He admitted to drinking beer earlier in the night before he reportedly failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody, according to the report.

A woman on Cordelia Street reported Sunday night that her soon-to-be ex-wife damaged her property by writing on it with a permanent marker, according to a Lufkin Police report. The damaged items included a dresser, mirror and a sex toy.

The woman said she was aware the situation was “petty,” but she did not appreciate the defamation of her property so she wanted to make a report and speak to an attorney the next day, the report stated. The officer told her she would need to speak to an attorney because the incident was a civil matter.

Aaron Earl James, 26, of Lufkin, was arrested Sunday afternoon after allegedly assaulting his common-law wife in the 300 block of South John Redditt Drive.

A woman in the 1900 block of Dawnwood Street reported Sunday morning that a neighbor witnessed a man in a silver Dodge destroy her mailbox after driving into it.

A man reported Saturday morning that someone stole his $400 YETI cooler from the back of his truck outside Best Western.

A woman reported early Monday morning that someone broke into her storage building in the 5600 block of Daniel McCall Drive and stole several items.

Someone reportedly kicked in a door of a home in the 4000 block of Peavy Switch Road and stole several items Sunday.

A woman in the 7000 block of FM 2021 reported Sunday that an electrical service pole she was storing was stolen.

Two coolers and tools were reportedly stolen from a truck bed outside LaQuinta Inn sometime overnight Friday.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old shooting people and buildings with a BB gun Saturday in the 400 block of John Kolb Road.


A woman in the 1000 block of Walker Road reported Saturday that she was assaulted by a man following a disturbance.

Someone in the 200 block of Llano Lane reported arson to a vehicle Sunday afternoon.

A woman in the 600 block of Morrow Avenue reported Saturday night that family heirlooms were broken and her TV was knocked over by two friends who were fighting inside her home.

A woman in the 800 block of York Drive was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after she was allegedly found in possession of a crack pipe Saturday morning.

A cow was reportedly shot and killed in a pasture somewhere on FM 3258 Saturday.

A man in the 600 block of Calvin Street reported his tailgate stolen from his truck sometime overnight Friday.

Lufkin police recovered a cell phone Saturday that someone had lost in the Nacogdoches Walmart parking lot.

An adult reportedly threatened the life of one of his or her parents Saturday in the 1000 block of FM 2108.

A man reported Saturday that someone stole his cellphone while he was at McDonald’s on South Timberland Drive.

Someone reported Saturday that someone busted the back window of a vehicle and punched holes into the side of a home in the 100 block of Red Lane.

A home in the 200 block of Brashear Road was reportedly broken into Friday, and several items were stolen.

A TV was reported stolen Friday in a home burglary in the 6000 block of FM 841.

Someone in the 400 block of Carrell Road reported Friday that a firearm was stolen from his or her home.

A woman on Conn Avenue reported early Sunday morning that she was assaulted by her husband.

The Lufkin Police Department made seven other arrests late Sunday and early Monday. Arrests and charges included: Richard Jason Jones, 44, of Lufkin, criminal trespass; Javier Sarmiento, 23, of Lufkin, warrants for criminal nonsupport and traffic violations; Kanetria Symone Hadnot, 25, of Lufkin, aggravated assault with a weapon and abandonment or endangerment of a child in imminent danger of bodily injury; Cruz Alonzo Rodriguez, 40, of Lufkin, disorderly conduct for fighting and public intoxication; Oscar Osvaldo Guerrero, 24, of Lufkin, disorderly conduct for fighting and evading arrest or detention; Quadry Jamaal Range, 22, of Lufkin, burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia; and Nicole Annay White, 41, of Lufkin, possession of a dangerous drug and warrants for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office made two other arrests late Sunday and early Monday. Arrests and charges included: Omar Landaverde, 19, of Lufkin, warrants for charges of tattooing or body piercing without a permit and tattooing a prohibited person under the age of 18; and Gary Matthew Dowdy, 39, of Diboll, burglary with intent to commit assault.

The Texas Department of Public Safety made two arrests late Sunday and early Monday. Arrests and charges included: Yesenia Loredo Terrazas, 33, of Diboll, motion to revoke probation for a theft of service charge; and Abel Gerardo Galvan, 36, of Diboll, warrants for driving while intoxicated (third or more) and a parole violation.

The Angelina County Jail housed 236 inmates as of 1 p.m. Monday.
