ADAC now positioned to provide Lufkin ISD’s drug education

After the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program was eliminated from Lufkin ISD in June due to funding issues, the Burke Center’s Connections Prevention Program served as one of the main sources of drug education for area schools. Now, it has been eliminated from the Burke Center, as the center is more solely focused on mental health, and organizers feel that the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) of Deep East Texas is more suited to take on the job, Burke Center CEO Susan Rushing said.
