Texas House Bill 5: House OKs testing, graduation standards overhaul

Measure would reduce testing, nix Algebra II requirement

A measure that is sure to have students rejoicing — as well as their teachers, parents and many business owners — would allow students to graduate without having to take Algebra II or other advanced math and science classes, and would also reduce the number of standardized tests they would be required to pass from 15 to 5.
