A Lufkin beauty school student is claiming she was holding a bottle of PCP “for a friend” after instructors found it stored in the school refrigerator earlier this week.

Latoya Pickard, 31, of Nacogdoches was arrested Wednesday after school instructors called police Monday afternoon, according to a Lufkin Police report.

The vial of illegal liquid was stored in a Styrofoam cup — with her name written across it — in the break room freezer and had been there a couple of days, according to Lufkin Police Lt. David Young.

When Pickard came to the police department to give her statement the day of her arrest, she told the officer she was “holding it for a friend.”

School officials were not immediately available for comment Thursday.

Pickard remained in the Angelina County Jail Thursday afternoon on a $20,000 bond, charged with possession of a controlled substance. This makes her sixth time to be booked into the Angelina County Jail since 2004. Her previous arrests include charges of reckless driving, theft by check and driving while intoxicated.
