A Lufkin man allegedly high on PCP was arrested Thursday night after being found growling outside a motel room, lifting imaginary weights.

Derrick Lewis, 37, was taken into custody on a charge of public intoxication over the incident that happened around 11:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Timberland Drive, a Lufkin Police report stated.

He later posted a $500 bond and was released from the Angelina County Jail.

According to county records, Lewis’ only previous arrest was in 2001 on a federal charge of absent without leave.

A Nacogdoches woman was arrested on a theft charge after being caught stealing hair extensions Thursday afternoon.

Brieanca McGowan, 18, was arrested and taken to the Angelina County Jail following the incident at a business in the 400 block of East Denman Avenue, a Lufkin Police report stated. She was released from jail the same day on a $1,500 bond.

According to county records, she was arrested on a theft charge last month.

A Lufkin man was arrested Friday morning for reportedly threatening to kill his ex-wife while pointing a rifle at her.

James Pate, 41, was taken into custody on a charge of aggravated assault/family violence with a deadly weapon.

He remained in the Angelina County Jail Friday morning, as his bond had not been set.

The Lufkin Police Department made three other arrests late Thursday and early Friday. Arrests and charges included: Jeremy Spencer, 31, public intoxication; Ismael Olayo, 32, no driver’s license and failure to yield; and Harold Crow, 49, probation revocation.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office made four arrests late Thursday and early Friday. Arrests and charges included: Roger Helton, 54, judgment; Alejandro Sanabria, 17, judgment; Chrisa Hunter, 55, delivery of a dangerous drug; and Irma Rosales, 46, federal hold.

The Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Ashley Knight, 24, on a charge of duty on striking a fixture/highway landscape.

The Angelina County Jail housed 225 inmates as of 10:30 a.m. Friday.
