A Lufkin man found hiding in a children’s plastic playhouse was arrested after allegedly being involved in a fight Monday afternoon at Ward Street Park.
Sashoun Brown, 22, was taken into custody on a charge of evading arrest and a 2008 warrant for theft, according to county records.
When officers arrived on the scene Monday afternoon, Brown was told to stop but instead fled on foot, a police report stated. No one else involved in the fight was found.
Two people reported being assaulted by people they know. One of the alleged victims said they also had their vehicle, a Ford Crown Victoria, damaged Monday in the 400 block of North Timberland Drive.
A tool box was reported stolen Monday in the 1600 block of Sayers Street.
A cell phone, money and a Visa gift card were reported stolen from a business Sunday in the 2100 block of South First Street.
An AT&T flip phone was reported stolen Monday in the 3000 block of South First Street.
A purse, iPhone and money were reported stolen Monday in the 1900 block of South First Street.
The Lufkin Police Department made eight arrests Monday and early Tuesday. Arrests and charges included: Erik Drayton, 20, two warrants and failure to identify; Melissa Truett, 51, unsafe backing and no insurance; Vicente Trimble, age not listed, failure to signal required distance before turn; Jason Bennett, 27, four traffic warrants; Daniel McWhorter, 25, two warrants; Louis Caraway, age not listed, theft of service; Anthony Schroeder, 22, assault causing bodily injury to a family member; and Leah Oneal, 22, assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office made five arrests Monday and early Tuesday. Arrests and charges included: Jamie Fricks, 42, adjudication of guilt, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, theft, criminal trespass and a warrant; Lorenzo Johnson, 47, warrant; Andrea Lovejoy, 45, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, theft, criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia; Johnny Mack, age not listed, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; and Micah King, 33, expired driver’s license.
The Angelina County Jail housed 220 inmates as of 2 p.m. Tuesday.
