Angelina County Sheriff Greg Sanches said once on scene, the man had a BB gun and was using it to shoot a snake.

The Lufkin Police Department made seven arrests late Thursday and early Friday. Arrests and charges included: Matthew Hanscom, 29, order for surrender; Adam Murphy, 26, possession of drug paraphernalia; Daniel Meza, 31, three warrants; Theresa Meyer, 50, public intoxication; Laquita Ruth, 28, four warrants; Richard Steven Smith, age not available, warrants for possession of marijuana and unlawful carry of a weapon; and Margarita Galvez, age not available, no driver’s license and failure to yield.

The Angelina County Jail housed 247 inmates as of 10:30 a.m. Friday.
