Someone told Lufkin Police that they saw a man wearing a black ski mask pour gasoline onto the complainant’s vehicle in the 2300 block of Northwood Street early Monday, then attempted to ignite the gasoline. The man reportedly fled the area driving a green Ford Taurus.

A woman accidentally left her wallet at a gas pump in the 3000 block of South John Redditt Drive on Sunday and returned to find it was gone, according to a Lufkin Police report.

A man reported finding a driver’s license in his yard while mowing on Sunday.

A window of a vacant house in the 300 block of Magnolia Avenue was reported broken on Sunday, a police report stated.

A man reportedly damaged about $350 worth of merchandise at a store in the Lufkin Mall on Sunday, but left before police were contacted.

Lufkin Police arrested Pedro Martinez, 19, on Sunday after a family disturbance turned into a physical altercation where, according to a police report, Martinez reportedly assaulted his sister. He was charged for assault/family violence and had two Lufkin Municipal Court warrants.

Someone stole chips and a 12-pack of beer from a store in the 1200 block of East Lufkin Avenue on Sunday.

A woman told police she was assaulted Sunday by a known male suspect.

A home in the 1700 block of Copeland Street was reportedly burglarized while the complainant was away, a Lufkin Police reported stated. Items reported stolen included a computer, a printer, passports, assorted jewelry, a 12-gauge shotgun, a .22 caliber rifle, handguns, a 1976 coin set, a 52-inch television and a DVD player. The complainant identified a possible suspect in the burglary.

A complainant reported seeing a man burglarize the complainant’s Chevrolet pickup truck early Monday in the 3100 block of Kent Street. The suspect reportedly fled on foot when confronted by the complainant.

The Lufkin Police Department made eight arrests late Sunday and early Monday. Arrests and charges included: Derek Cox, 23, motion to adjudicate/criminal mischief; Pedro Martinez, 19, assault/family violence, failure to maintain financial responsibility and motor vehicle inspection violation; Becky Montes, 28, assault/physical contact; Wayne Junior Hunt, 29, adjudication of guilt/possession of marijuana, assault/family violence and failure to appear; Deidra Hamel, 46, theft; Kutia Wilson, 31, abandonment/endangerment of a child/criminal negligence, possession of a dangerous drug and public intoxication; Rexie McMullen, 19, failure to stop; and Tiffany Eppler, 28, no driver’s license.

The Angelina County Jail housed 231 inmates as of 6 p.m. Monday.
