An Alvin woman was arrested Sunday evening at Lufkin’s Walmart store after attempting to pass off an old receipt as being for the $1,040 worth of merchandise she had in her buggy.

Angela Wyatt, 44, was taken into custody on a charge of Class A misdemeanor theft around 5:15 p.m. Sunday, according to a Lufkin Police report. Among the items she allegedly attempted to steal were several children’s toys including Furbys, Barbies, games, candy, food items including beer, shrimp, ribeyes, Dr Peppers and clothing. The receipt she reportedly waved at store employees as she attempted to make her exit was from the Alvin store, the report stated.

After being arrested, Wyatt posted her $1,500 bond Monday, jail records stated.

A TV was reported stolen around 1 p.m. Saturday from Walmart.

A GPS was reported stolen from a vehicle last weekend in the 300 block of South John Redditt Drive.

A counterfeit bill was reportedly taken as payment Sunday at a restaurant in the 200 block of South Timberland Drive.

A man reported that his wallet was stolen while he was at work Sunday in the 2200 block of South John Redditt Drive.

The Lufkin Police Department made 11 arrests late Sunday and early Monday. Arrests and charges included: Teodoro Santander-Cruz, 36, driving while intoxicated and no driver’s license; Holly Horton, 19, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear; Alan Cheney, 27, assault; Joe Trevino, 19,  theft warrant; Sandra Jordan, 48, criminal trespass and speeding warrant; James Hunt, 21, expired driver’s license; Rafael Rico Jr., age not available, no insurance warrant; Annie Badillo, 24, five traffic warrants; Wanda Holmes, 44, public intoxication warrant and probation revocation warrant; and Elizabeth Collier, 22, theft of property.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jerry Shiflet, 25, on a charge of driving while license invalid.

The Angelina County Jail housed 234 inmates as of 5 p.m. Monday.
