A statement an Orange man made to a passerby about “putting a baby in a dryer” led the man being arrested Wednesday afternoon on a charge of public intoxication.
Kevin Hill, 40, was taken into custody after the passerby stopped to check on him around 4:15 p.m. at the entrance to Crown Colony subdivision, a Lufkin Police report stated. When officers arrived, Hill was sitting in his yellow Jeep making only partial, incoherent sentences.
According to the report, Hill could not stand or sit still and was unable to answer questions. His eyes were also glassy and his pupils dilated. Upon making contact with one of Hill’s family members, officers were told he is a methamphetamine user and was likely having a mental health episode, according to the police report.
The officer found no evidence of a child in danger or injured, and Hill was taken to the Angelina County Jail without incident. He was released from jail Thursday on a $500 bond, jail records stated.
Kevin Martin, 45, was arrested Wednesday night in the 1500 block of Sayers Street after allegedly lying to officers about his name, struggling with them and then attempting to flee to area, a Lufkin Police report stated. He was taken into custody, at which time officers found he had a parole warrant. He was also in possession of a crack pipe, according to the report. He was charged with resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and the parole warrant.
Kevin Summers, 39, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication Wednesday afternoon in the 100 block of North Timberland Drive. At the time of his arrest he was reportedly in possession of a bank bag and 10 checks allegedly stolen from a Lufkin business days earlier. He is being charged with burglary of a building, public intoxication and stealing/receiving stolen checks.
A bomb threat was reportedly called in to Pilgrim’s Pride Wednesday night in the 1700 block of West Frank Avenue. Police searched the property but did not find an explosive device.
Two hundred dollars was reported stolen from a vehicle broken into Wednesday afternoon in the 2900 block of South John Redditt Drive.
A Motorola touch pad was reported stolen from a vehicle broken into Tuesday night in the 4200 block of South Medford Drive.
A woman reportedly lost her driver’s license Tuesday in the 1800 block of North Timberland Drive.
An electric meter was reported stolen from a vacant home sometime in the last week in the 500 block of West Frank Avenue.
Three fraudulent purchases were reportedly made on a person’s debit card in Mansfield, Texas.
A man reported having his phone stolen from him from the Angelina College gym Wednesday afternoon.
The Lufkin Police Department made two arrests late Wednesday and early Thursday. Arrests and charges included: Stefani Getro, 41, no insurance; and Grady Ross, 23, warrants.
The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office made nine arrests late Wednesday and early Thursday. Arrests and charges included: Marktez Alexander, 32, parole warrant and possession of a controlled substance; Coty Hopson, 35, order of surrender; Marquiez Jackson, 21, bench warrant; Cody Plummer, 22, evading arrest warrant; Jeremy Strickland, 34, judgment; Joel Moreno, 31, no driver’s license, no insurance, defective equipment and no driver’s license warrant; Connie Olson, 52, assault/family violence; Kellie Leach, 35, burglary of a habitation warrant; and Paul Washington, 45, parole violation.
The Diboll Police Department made two arrests late Wednesday and early Thursday. Arrests and charges included: Daniel Holeman Jr., 22, six traffic warrants and one Class C warrant; and Aldo Cantu, 20, warrants for minor in consumption of alcohol and assault.
The Pct. 4 constable arrested Calvin Walker, 30, on a probation revocation Wednesday.
The Angelina County Jail housed 241 inmates as of noon Thursday.
