A 48-year-old Lufkin man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after darting back and forth across North Medford Drive, waving a towel.

Michael Swint was taken in on a charge of not crossing at a crosswalk after reportedly running back and forth across North Medford Drive with the towel around 4:30 p.m. There were vehicles around him that had to brake and change lanes to avoid hitting him, a police report stated.

Officers on the northbound side of the highway tried to get his attention, but he ignored them as he continued his dash across traffic. When enough officers arrived to cover the highway, Swint reportedly darted off into a wooded area toward Paul Avenue. He was taken down in a field north of Paul Avenue.

When asked what he was doing, Swint told the officers he was “getting exercise,” the report stated.

He was then arrested and taken to the Angelina County Jail, where he was released on a $500 bond.
