Lufkin police arrested Jory Lagette Smith, 43, following an investigation into a possible vehicle/home burglary Thursday evening.

A neighbor of a home in the 600 block of Vivion Street reported the burglary and managed to get picture of the suspect, Smith. The vehicle involved in the burglary was a Kia Rio.

When officers attempted to stop Smith to speak with him, he reportedly attempted to flee on foot and resisted arrest. He also identified himself as “Judge Dredd” when officers asked his name.

Smith had a Kia key, Diebold lock and an unknown set of keys in his pocket at the time of his arrest.

Authorities booked Smith into the Angelina County Jail early Friday. He received charges of evading arrest, resisting arrest and failure to identify, and posted a $4,500 total bond before being released.
