Angelina County Sheriff’s Office arrested David Lee Hunt, 71, of Lufkin, on a charge of deadly conduct Thursday afternoon after receiving a call of a reckless driver with a firearm. When a deputy pulled up behind Hunt, he exited his vehicle with a firearm in hand at the intersection of state Highway 103 east and FM 326 north. Following verbal commands by the arresting deputy, Hunt set his firearm on the ground and surrendered.

A man said a known person with a criminal trespass warning came onto his property Thursday.

A woman reported a fraudulent charge on her credit card Thursday.

A man said a dog attacked his dog recently. After taking his dog for treatment, the man returned home and found the attacking dog on his porch Thursday.

A man in the 100 block of Homer Cemetery reported a go-cart, a toolbox and a drill missing Thursday.

A man said he and his wife had a verbal altercation Thursday when a family member assaulted him.

A woman in the 100 block of Spring Branch Road reported a dog that appeared to have mange in her yard.

Someone broke into a home in the 700 block of Persimmon Avenue Thursday.

A man reported debit card fraud Thursday.

A couple reported a mutual assault Thursday.

A man in the 2900 block of South Chestnut Street reported bicycles stolen from his home.

A woman said her husband assaulted her Thursday.

A woman in the 500 block of South John Redditt Drive reported an assault.

The Lufkin Police Department made six arrests late Thursday and early Friday. Arrests and charges included: Melanie Louise Brashear, 38, of Lufkin, warrants for traffic violations; Julissa Zuniga, age unavailable, of Lufkin, traffic violations; Joshua Steven Hambrick, 28, of Diboll, possession of drug paraphernalia-marijuana and a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia; Esther Banks, age and hometown unavailable, failure to maintain financial responsibility; Ben Fuller Jr., 62, of Lufkin, assault/family violence; and Jonathan Rey Gonzales, 26, of Lufkin, possession of drug paraphernalia and warrants for possession of marijuana.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office made two other arrests late Thursday and early Friday. Arrests and charges included: Peggy Renelle Mixon, 48, of Huntington, driving while intoxicated; and Steven Michael Paul, 29, of Lufkin, assault/family violence and resisting arrest.

The Angelina County Pct.1 Constable arrested Eric Demone Smotherman, 43, of Kennard, driving while license invalid and warrants for traffic violations.

The Zavalla Police Department arrested Kevin Dwain Summers, 45, of Huntington, possession of a controlled substance and walking with the flow of traffic.

Texas Parks and Wildlife arrested Brandon Fontelle Lewis, age unavailable, of Lufkin, warrants for traffic violations.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office transferred Randi Dane Noseworthy, 26, of Diboll, warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

The Angelina County Jail housed 224 inmates as of 4 p.m. Friday.
