After a protracted battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, Thelma M. Bryant passed away in her sleep on June 3, 2019 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William R. “Bill” Bryant, and leaves behind her sons, Mason and Bruce, her daughter-in-law, Vicki and her grandson, Wesley.

Thelma was born in Lamesa, TX on August 17, 1924 to father Sam Mason and mother Onita Mason who predeceased her. She grew up in West Texas, and early in World War II met and married Bill Bryant. In 1956 they moved to Lufkin, Texas where Thelma served as the Membership Secretary for the First United Methodist Church until they moved to Weimar, Texas in 1977. Shortly after Bill’s death on November 18, 1987, Thelma moved back to Lufkin where she remained an active member of the First United Methodist Church until her illness rendered her unable to continue attending services.

Thelma was active in her Book Club, Quilting, and playing in numerous Game Nights with her close friends. She was a genealogy whiz, remembering all the people she ever encountered, and their relationship to family and friends.

Thelma is survived by her sons, daughter-in-law, grandson, nieces Becky Kenny, Kim Strange, and nephew Marcus Mason but was preceded in death by her brother, Rayburn Mason and his wife, Creola Mason of Ruidoso, NM.

Thelma was interred at the family plot in Weimar Masonic Cemetery, Weimar, Texas with the immediate family in attendance. The Family would like to thank all the caregivers that helped Thelma through the many years of the progression of her disease. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Dementia Foundation.
