COOK: Lufkin needs to build up, restore its broken men

On Tuesday the City Council voted to make panhandling illegal in Lufkin. Our civic leaders were right, panhandling has become an issue, evidenced by the growing number of people, mostly men, asking for handouts at intersections. But I believe the increase highlights what is actually a bigger issue — a lack of faith-based life skills and job training for MEN living in poverty in Lufkin and Angelina County, and it’s time for us to do something about it.
