DEAR JEFF: My employer has asked me to take a lie detector test. Do I have to? Signed “Did No Wrong.”

Dear “Did No Wrong”: The use of lie detector (or polygraph) tests by employers is governed by the Employee Polygraph Protection Act, which limits their use by most private employers. Federal, state and local government employers are not covered by this act.
