With national pollinator week approaching later this month, it is important to recognize the variety of pollinators that exist in addition to honey bees. For those who want to take steps to support a locally found, native pollinating insect, consider the mason bee.

Descendants of Andrew Jackson Jumper and Margaret Esebell McVay Jumper met at the Old Jumper Homestead owned by Tex Parks and now by Donna Sue Parks for their 60th reunion on June 6, with 19 attending.

Amy Miller of Lufkin was among the 5,300 students conferred their degrees from the University of Iowa at the end of the 2021 spring semester. Miller was a student in the Graduate College whose program of study was Theatre Arts. The degree awarded was a Master of Fine Arts.

Three Lufkin students graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls at the end of the spring 2021 semester. MSU Texas awarded degrees to 653 undergraduate and graduate students.

Landry Fox Newgent, a senior management major from Lufkin, has been named to the Dean’s List at Southern Arkansas University for the 2021 spring semester.
