HUNTINGTON — The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the names of the two men involved in a two-vehicle fatality crash that occurred about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday on FM 1669, about 5 miles north of Huntington.

Jeremy Johnson, 38, of Mineral Wells, was pronounced dead at the scene by Angelina County Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Pat Grimes Grubbs, according to a press release from DPS Sgt. David Hendry.

Jonathon Keller, 41, of Keller, was not injured in the crash, the release states.

Keller was northbound in a 1995 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer, transporting oil field equipment, when a piece of unsecured equipment swung over into the southbound lane, striking a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Johnson, the release states.

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office and Lufkin Fire Department also responded to the scene. Traffic remained open in one lane as authorities investigated the crash, and only stopped in both lanes as wreckers and Carroway Funeral Home representatives worked to move the vehicle and body.

The crash remains under investigation.
