Legislation filed by state Rep. Travis Clardy (R-Nacogdoches) and Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) would allow the sale of the Central Heights water system without a public vote.

NACOGDOCHES — Newly filed legislation could mean the city of Nacogdoches is well on its way to selling the problematic Central Heights water system to a local river authority.

State Rep. Travis Clardy (R-Nacogdoches) and Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) both have filed bills that would allow the sale of the Central Heights water system without a public vote that is typically required when selling a city asset.
