The Deep East Texas Council of Governments on Wednesday reviewed and discussed its 20-year regional solid waste plan for the 11-county region.

“The plan takes a look at what we are doing today with solid waste in the region and how that relates to the population and changes that are expected over the next 20 years,” Bob Bashaw, the agency’s regional planner, said. “It also reviews what is being done to reduce the amount of solid waste going into the landfills and sets some goals for the next 20 years.”
