The company moving into the Aspen Power Plant property announced Thursday a joint venture creating one of the world’s first entirely renewable energy-powered manufacturing facilities that will produce compostable molded fiber products.

Jefferson Enterprise Energy announced its plans to build a pulp mill, a sodium chlorate plant and to make improvements to the existing power plant in Lufkin in mid-January. The plant would operate using wood purchased from local providers to make sustainable energy to conduct its operations.
