The Lufkin ISD Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo art winners were recognized Thursday with chocolate bars and certificates. Lufkin ISD students and staff members will be receiving a one-week break in October after the board of trustees on Thursday approved the 2023-24 academic calendar.
Board members were required to choose between two calendars: Calendar A, which included a one-week break in October, and Calendar B, which spread the days off sporadically throughout the semester. Both calendars include 182 working days for teachers and 171 learning days for students.
