Someone driving a black four-door Jeep Wrangler pulled a vehicle over in the 1900 block of West Frank Avenue Friday night and told the vehicle’s occupant that he was a police officer.

According to Lufkin Police Sgt. Mike Shurley, a woman was going to her workplace on Webber Street when a black Jeep followed her down Frank Avenue flashing the headlights. She pulled into a parking lot and got out of the vehicle. The man, described as a heavyset white male with blond hair and glasses, approached her and identified himself as an off-duty Lufkin police officer. He told her she had a license plate violation. Shurley said he never displayed a badge and was wearing plain clothes.
