Stephen F. Austin head coach Kyle Keller gives instruction during a recent game during the 2020-21 season. SFA is petitioning the NCAA to have its postseason ban, which had previously been delayed to the 2021-22 season, moved back to the current season.

NACOGDOCHES — Last summer the NCAA handed down numerous penalties to the Stephen F. Austin Athletics Department for violations committed and not corrected back in 2014 and subsequent APR violations. One of those penalties was that the Lumberjack basketball program was to be banned from postseason participation in the 2021-22 season.

SFA is now asking the NCAA to move up that ban up to the current season, according to a release Thursday by the university.
