The Lufkin Panthers proved they could compete with most teams in the state by taking a 31-14 win over the No. 3 A&M Consolidated Tigers last week. The Longview Lobos spent Friday night showing they aren’t exactly like most teams.

Lufkin’s Brayden Walker (21) and Longview’s Willie Nelson (6) reach for a pass thrown by Lufkin quarterback TJ Hammond during first-half action Friday night on John Outlaw Memorial Field at Abe Martin Stadium.

Longview dominated from the opening kickoff and never gave the Panthers a chance on the way to a convincing 56-7 win in the District 7-5A DI opener on John Outlaw Memorial Field at Abe Martin Stadium.
